EXCLUSIVE – Bank of America is all set to launch its AI powered bot Erica this month, Michelle Moore, head of digital banking at BofA told Bank Innovation.
“Our focus with innovation has been on, how can we make the lives of our customers easier?” Moore said. “With Erica, customers can use their voice or phones for everyday banking tasks, making payments, checking balances, etc.”
Although, Moore could not provide an exact launch date, she said it will happen in the latter part of March.
Bank of America first unveiled plans of Erica back in 2016. The AI-powered bot will allow users to ask questions or list commands via text message or voice within the BofA mobile app.
Erica, which uses AI, also applies predictive analysis and machine learning to assist customers with their digital banking needs as well as provide financial advice.
The feature is an important one for Bofa, whose digital users is expanding consistently. According to Moore, the bank’s digital users grew 12% year over year in 2017, with over 35 million digital users and 24 million mobile users. Erica, will let BofA provide more value for these digital customers.
