Block forecasts first income from AI in Q4

Block anticipates generating its first revenue from AI in the fourth quarter, a milestone for a payments company that has spent the past year rebuilding itself around the technology. Block is beginning to externalize the capabilities and interfaces it built for its engineers, Chief Financial Officer Amrita Ahuja told analysts during the company's Q3 earnings call on Nov. 3. [caption id="attachment_57379939" align="alignright" width="257"] (Courtesy/FinAi News)[/caption] Block co-founder and Chief Executive Jack Dorsey reinforced the point, saying the company is testing several approaches on the best way to make money from AI, but anticipates “our first monetization of our AI tools in Q4 of this year.” The revenue would flow from Builderlab, an AI commercial ecosystem yet to be released, and Buzz, the agentic collaboration and code platform at its center that was launched this year, Dorsey said. He described Buzz as a single interface pulling together two years of AI development — an interface Block intends to “use internally to replace a bunch of third-party vendors” and sell to other firms. Buzz is model-agnostic, he said, and can run on a customer’s network, positioning it against workplace tools such as Slack, GitHub and Discord. The company will provide an update on Builderlab at a Nov. 10 event in San Francisco. The company did not disclose prices for the AI tools. Faster shipping of products The AI investment is already changing how fast Block ships , Ahuja said. In its shareholder letter, the company said it released more than 180 Square features in the first three quarters of 2026 — already more than in 2024 and 2025 combined. Ahuja credits the increased speed to AI tools that help review and merge routine production code and then automatically route engineers to the most appropriate model.
