Visa reported more transactions processed and increased revenue during its second quarter and expects to expand its reach with agentic commerce.

“Agentic commerce will expand our addressable market, and our efforts will accelerate Visa’s long-term growth,” Chief Executive Ryan McInerney said during the company’s fiscal second-quarter earnings call today.

In Q2, which ended March 31, Visa reported:

  • Payments volume of $3.7 trillion, up 9% year over year;
  • Total transactions processed increased 9% YoY to 66.1 billion; and
  • Revenue of $11.2 billion, up 17% YoY.

Visa expects agentic commerce to expand its market in four ways:

Courtesy/Visa
  1. Digitalization of global commerce will accelerate;
  2. Agents will create significantly more transactions;
  3. Agents will accelerate digitalization of B2B payments; and
  4. Gross domestic product is expected to increase 80 to 150 basis points.

“When GDP grows, spending grows and digital payments transactions grow,” McInerney said.

Agentic Ready program

With increasing adoption of agentic commerce, Visa announced expansion of its global Agentic Ready program today.

The Agentic Ready program allows issuing partners to test agentic payments in a controlled environment. The program rolled out in Europe and is expanding to Asia Pacific and Latin America clients.

HSBC, Santander, Revolut and Commerce Bank are among institutions using the platform, according to Visa’s March 17 release.

Other agentic AI plays

Visa’s competitors are also rolling out agentic AI payment tools to capture market share.

Mastercard launched AgentPay in April 2025 and it is available to issuer clients globally. American Express, meanwhile, is pushing into agentic commerce with the launch of three products in the past year.

Within a decade, nearly 20% of all payments could be completed with agentic AI, Pablo Fourez, chief digital officer at Mastercard, told FinAi News.

“Visa is extraordinarily well positioned to win in agentic for three important reasons: network, security and trust,” McInerney said.
