canstockphoto9632184It turns out taxes were popular this week.

While Credit Karma (still) remained the top finance app for both the iOS and Google Play charts today, the TurboTax Tax Return app is not far behind. The TurboTax app is currently ranked second on the Google Play charts and third for iOS, according to Bank Innovation‘s regular review of fintech apps.

TurboTax Tax Return was not even ranked in the Top 20 last week.

PayPal seems to be the challenger this week, claiming second place on iOS and third for Android applications. As usual, Venmo is not far behind its parent company, placing fourth on iOS and sixth on Android.

Budgeting apps also rose in the ranking this week, with Mint Personal Finance rounding out the iOS Top 10 and Acorns not far behind No. 12. On the Google Play charts, Mint and Acorns took spots 17 and 18.

Google’s own Android Pay also ranks high at No. 13. Apple’s equivalent, Apple Pay, was nowhere to be seen on the iOS side — it is not even in the Top 100 of iOS apps. Google’s mobile wallet application, Google Wallet, rounded out Google Play’s chart at No. 20, while the last slot on the iOS ranking was filled by Western Union Money Transfer.

The rankings, retrieved from App Annie at 10:30 AM ET on Jan. 19, are:
