Moven Announces Username and Password Coming Soon for Mobile

moven_sticker2Moven sent an email to its beta testers yesterday announcing that its username and password feature, currently only available online, would soon be available for mobile. This will give mobile users more options for logging in, which currently relies on Facebook for mobile users.

The utimate goal for Moven will be mobile account origination, which is in the development pipeline according to president Alex Sion.

Moven is billed as a mobile-first account, so moves like this are crucial to the service. Moven works with a small team — just four engineers, according to Amit Gulati, who spoke at a recent fintech meetup in New York. Compare this to Simple’s 40 engineers and the hundreds at larger tech vendors, and Moven’s accomplishments look even more impressive.

The email also announced some upcoming features and enhancements to the service. The email was sent not from Moven itself but from founder Brett King. It carried the subject line, “An update from Moven.”

The features presented as coming soon are Pay a Friend, Moven’s P2P service that will also allow Facebook payments, and Move Money, an easier way to move money in and out of one’s account.

Several features are listed as being in development. They are Suspend your card, View your account and routing number, and Manage your Profile & Support. This second feature is likely cribbed from GoBank, which introduced this valuable feature at launch.

Moven is ahead of the pack in mobile payments, releasing a sticker to enable NFC payments, shown above. These stickers may have cost the company a considerable amount, according to NetBanker Jim Bruene, though we have also heard lower prices from sticker vendors themselves.

The text of the email is below.

Dear Philip,

We’re really excited to have you as one of our beta customers!  We sincerely thank you for your patience as we continue to make improvements to our service.

As you may have noticed, in our excitement we released username and password online without making it immediately available on the mobile app. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and for not communicating this to you sooner. We have now developed username login for mobile, and it will be available in our very next app release which is already in review by Apple.

COMING SOON!

-Pay a Friend: Send money to a Facebook friend, mobile number or email address.

-Move Money: Move money in and out of your Moven account with just a few clicks.

IN DEVELOPMENT

-Suspend your Card: Instantly freeze spending on your card from the app in case of theft or fraud.

-View your Account & Routing Number: View account and routing number securely in the app.

-Manage your Profile & Support: Manage your personal profile and request support via the app.

DON’T FORGET:

Our current available features include:

-Instant Mobile Receipt:  Stay on top of your spending. Get feedback with every purchase!

–MoneyPulse(TM): Are you in the Green, Yellow or Red? Check your pulse to stay on track.

-Online Data Aggregation: Link your checking, savings, debit and credit accounts to get feedback on your entire spend.

We’re very excited that you’ve joined us on this journey.  We look forward to sharing our progress with you and getting your feedback as we continue to build new ways to help people spend, save and live smarter!

And remember, you can always reach us via email or on Twitter or Facebook for any feedback or questions. We welcome it!

Cheers,
Brett King
