Lemon Wallet Ups Its Game by Partnering with Shopping Sites

lemonwallet_lemonsLemon Wallet announced yesterday that it has enabled purchases on participating merchant sites without customers needing to enter payment information.

Lemon Wallet users can now buy goods and services from merchants listed on the platform, which is called the Lemon Network in a manner similar to PayPal or Venmo Touch.

Payments can also be made from within the Lemon Wallet app environment.

While not processing payments itself, Lemon supports payments using PayPal, Braintree, and Stripe. Meanwhile, Lemon is encroaching on these players’ terrain by providing the connection between merchants and customers and controlling the checkout process.

There is no cost to customers or merchants to use the Lemon Network. Lemon works on a subscription model with customers paying $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year.

The company has made some aggressive staffing moves as well, hiring Jenna Wyer, Braintree employee No. 3, to be its chief sales officer a month ago. Wyer focused on acquiring merchants at Braintree.

Lemon Wallet is among the most popular mobile wallets on the market, claiming approximately 3 million users. CEO Wences Casares recently said the service was adding 1,000 new cards an hour. The product works on both iOS and Android and supports a large number of payment processors. Users can upload all of their credit cards, as well as IDs and other cards, such as insurance documents.

The company is looking to expand to Latin America and mulling bitcoin integration, according to PandoDaily.
