Alkami is doubling down on gen AI with the launch of Alkami Code Studio, designed to help financial institutions build and deploy digital banking features faster.

Unveiled at Alkami Co:lab 2026, the solution is embedded in its SDK Wizard and allows developers —even non-technical teams — to generate production-ready code using natural language prompts, according to the company’s April 16 release.

“Financial institutions are looking for partners who are not only talking about AI but actively embedding it into their platforms in meaningful ways,” Deep Varma, chief technology officer at Alkami, told FinAi News. Alkami Code Studio “helps them move faster while maintaining the governance, security and control they require.”

The tool reflects Alkami’s push toward open architecture and AI-driven development, he said.

Inside Code Studio

Built on a combination of proprietary large language models and commercial infrastructure such as AWS Bedrock, Code Studio is trained on Alkami’s historical codebase to generate compliant, design-aligned outputs, he said.

“Instead of hiring 10 engineers, you’re going to hire five engineers,” Varma said. “Your engineer will go there and say, ‘I want to do this specific customization,’ and the platform generates the code.”

Historically, only a subset of institutions leveraged SDKs to extend the platform, Varma said, adding that Code Studio lowers that barrier by enabling natural language-based development.

“It enables those [banks that] don’t have [a lot of] engineers … to start doing the customization,” Varma said.

The tool has seen early traction, with nearly 27 FIs signing up shortly after its announcement on April 16, he said.

By combining AI-assisted coding with a governed deployment environment, Alkami is positioning Code Studio as a key building block in helping banks and credit unions accelerate innovation without compromising compliance.

FIs that use Alkami’s services include:

  • Clear Mountain Bank;
  • Trustmark Bank; and
  • American Eagle FCU.
