BofA announced last year that starting “early” March 2015 it will no longer support its mobile app on Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Phone 8.1, and Windows Phone 8 mobile devices, suggesting customers access their accounts online.

The app is back on Windows Store for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile as of yesterday (and with a five-star rating from 247 reviews). It’s redesigned, and has features that are not available through the bank’s website, such as check deposits, a BofA spokeswoman told Bank Innovation. Among the new features is People Hub Integration, which allows users to imports existing phone contacts and transfer funds to their accounts.

The app runs on Windows phones, as well as any devices that support the operating system. BofA joins several major FIs that already have a Windows app, including Citibank, Wells Fargo, and Ally Bank (but not JPMorgan Chase).

Despite the Android and iOS domination in the smartphone space, BofA may be on to something by introducing Windows 10 support today. Microsoft has recently announced it will be streamlining its smartphone hardware production. “We are focusing our phone efforts where we have differentiation — with enterprises that value security, manageability and our Continuum capability, and consumers who value the same,” said CEO Satya Nadella in a statement. “We will continue to innovate across devices and on our cloud services across all mobile platforms.”
