10. Moneyaisle launched a platform where lenders would bid for a customer’s business in an auction format. It was a lead generating site for the banks, but this auction found no buyers.

11. Hoyos offered Eyelock, a small device that scanned a user’s eye to verify his identity. “When thieves steal your money, it’s a huge problem,” the company said. Right, and passwords suck, but bio-metrics needs to be seamless and easy and not weird, and Eyelock wasn’t.

12. Robotdough was another equity research platform for day-traders. Unfortunately, the  software company did not last long: starting in 2009 and ending in 2012. It helped provide tools for individual investors, and offered strategy building with stock market research.
