Movers and Shakers: USAA names new chief information officer, new chief security officer

Amala Duggirala joined banking, insurance and investment firm USAA in early January as executive vice president and enterprise chief information officer. She reports to CEO Wayne Peacock. She is also heading the company’s technology transformation, according to an announcement by $200 billion USAA . She previously served as chief operations and technology officer at $147.3 billion Regions Bank , and led technology and product transformations at Kabbage, ACI Worldwide and British Telecommunications. Duggirala was recently named to Forbes' 'CIO Next 2021' list, which highlights top technology executives. In addition, Jason Witty joined USAA as senior vice president and chief security officer (CSO) in January. He reports to Duggirala. Witty is a certified information systems security management professional (ISSMP) with more than 28 years’ experience in information risk management. He manages information security, privacy, physical security, operational resiliency, crisis management and corporate investigations across the company. Prior to his current role, Witty was the CIO of cybersecurity & technology controls and global chief information security officer (CISO) at JPMorgan Chase , where he oversaw cybersecurity, technology controls and technology resiliency programs. He also held leadership roles at U.S. Bancorp and Bank of America . Annamalai leaves Fiserv to become EVP of product at AmeriSave Mortgage Deva Annamalai joined AmeriSave Mortgage Corp. as its executive vice president of product in December 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile . He previously served as core provider Fiserv’s head of strategy and solutions consulting and director of innovation and payments strategy. He also held technical leadership roles at Zions Bancorporation. Fiserv did not respond to Bank Automation News ’ inquiry about Annamalai’s replacement by time of publication. Morgan Stanley names co-heads in technology divisions Morgan Stanley promoted Jeff Hogan as a co-head of global tech mergers and acquisitions, and Enrique Perez-Hernandez, a London-based banker, as a co-head of global tech banking. Hogan began his new role in January after serving as vice chairman at the company for more than 25 years, according to his LinkedIn. Perez-Hernandez joins Dave Chen and Michael Grimes as co-head. He previously ran the company’s European tech business. In another shift at Morgan Stanley, Ran Chen, a managing director, has been named co-head of global internet banking, alongside Kate Claassen and Umi Mehta. Truist names new chief audit officer Denise DeMaio will become the new chief audit officer at Truist Financial Corporation, effective Feb. 28, 2022, reporting directly to the Truist Board of Directors' Audit Committee and to Chief Executive Officer Bill Rogers. DeMaio succeeds Dale Jeanes, who is retiring after 20 years in the role. DeMaio will lead Truist's internal audit function and provide counsel to senior management on emerging risk trends from the vantage points of governance, processes, technologies and reporting. DeMaio comes to Truist from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), where she oversaw the foreign banking organization's internal audit function as managing director and chief audit executive for the Americas, and as executive officer and deputy global chief auditor. Prior to joining MUFG, DeMaio served as executive vice president and chief auditor, United States at TD Bank , where she created Centers of Excellence and the U.S. Audit Operations/Professional Practices group, as well as a Regulatory Compliance and BSA/AML Audit Group, to strengthen the bank's control environment. Google hires PayPal vet to reset payment division strategy Google has hired former PayPal Holdings executive Arnold Goldberg to oversee its payments division after it scrapped its payments offering, Plex. Goldberg began his new role of VP/GM of payments and NBU in January, according to his LinkedIn. The move is part of a broader strategy to team up with a wider range of financial services and will include cryptocurrencies, Bill Ready, Google’s president of commerce, told Bloomberg Mercury. The business, known for the Google Pay system and mobile wallet, has largely avoided the crypto industry. Credit Suisse hires BMO technology banker Yogesh Amle Credit Suisse AG has hired Yogesh Amle as its head of software investment banking for the Americas. Amle previously served as BMO’s global head of software investment banking and boutique technology bank Union Square Advisors’ head of software investment banking. He also has held positions at Citi and JPMorgan, according to his LinkedIn. Amle joins Dan McDow, global head of software, as well as Michael Nemeroff and Andrew Delia on the software team.
