Global payments provider Klarna is partnering with Google Cloud to use artificial intelligence to enhance its payment services for more than 114 million consumers worldwide.
The AI-first collaboration will leverage Google Cloud’s infrastructure and models to accelerate Klarna’s development of smarter, more personalized payment and shopping tools. Early pilots have already shown a 50% increase in orders and a 15% rise in time spent on Klarna’s app, according to Google Cloud’s Oct. 10 release.
“At Klarna, we’re using AI not just to improve efficiency, but to transform how people pay and shop,” said David Sandström, Klarna’s chief marketing officer. “By pairing Google Cloud’s AI with our payments network, we’re making every interaction faster, safer, and more personal.”
The partnership also extends to payment security, with Klarna using Google Cloud’s AI hardware to train models that detect fraud and money laundering. These tools analyze complex connections between users, transactions, and devices to identify suspicious activity in real time, the release stated.
“This collaboration helps Klarna redefine trust and creativity in payments,” said Marianne Janik, vice president at Google Cloud.
