TD Bank said Chief Operating Officer Taylan Turan is departing after about a year in the job, leaving vacant a role the bank had only recently created.
Canada’s second-largest bank didn’t give a reason or a timeline for Turan’s exit in a statement that announced a few other executive moves. He joined TD in September 2025 from HSBC Holdings Plc, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Raymond Chun.

“I want to thank Taylan for his partnership and leadership and wish him the very best for the future,” Chun said in the statement.
TD hasn’t traditionally had a COO, though Chun himself, who became CEO last year, held the title for an interim period in late 2024 and early 2025 as he prepared for the top job.
Paul Whitehead will join TD’s senior executive team as senior executive vice president of global corporate services. Renu Gupta, the chief financial officer of TD Securities, will become the bank’s chief strategy and commercial officer, according to the statement.
