JPMorgan Chase is looking to hire one employee for its payment automation systems on the wholesale payments technology team amid a continuing effort to revamp its real-time payment platform by the end of 2023, according to the bank’s 2022 Investor Day presentation.

The initiative is part of the bank’s $2.4 billion tech investment in the second quarter of this year, with plans to automate back-end development and engineering workflows.

The $3.8 billion bank says it is early into a multiyear re-engineering program to “improve efficiency, performance, scalability and automation in order to support increasing volumes, market complexity and customer demands,” according to the recent job posting.

The new hire will work with Graphite Express, one of the financial institution’s primary applications for payment processing flows as a global, real-time payments system, according to the job posting. The app, which is planned to be enabled in 54 countries by yearend, is expected to bring in $40 million in revenue by the end of 2022, making up 75% market share of U.S. real-time payment volume, according to the bank’s 2022 Investor Day presentation.

Job responsibilities for the Chase role include understanding the platform’s architecture and developing test cases to automate, as well as working with others on testing practices and resolving issues that arise. Additionally, candidates will be expected to have a grasp on the bank’s secure financial messaging service SWIFT FIN.

Qualified applicants have payment domain expertise, previous practice with payment functionality and software maintenance and improvement experience, as well as experience using test automation frameworks such as Cucumber, Jasmine and Canary.

The hiring efforts support the bank’s ongoing investment in training, technology and its branches, Chief Executive Jamie Dimon said during the bank’s Q2 earnings call.
