D.L. Evans Bank has been working with and expanding the use of software company Laserfiche capabilities for 25 years, resulting in paper, monetary and time savings throughout the bank.

Through the tech provider, the $3.2 billion, Idaho-based bank saves roughly $1 million annually, has reduced its FDIC audit time by 50% from four weeks to two weeks, and has cut its document processing time by 66%, Gerardo Munoz, D.L. Evans’ IT director, told Bank Automation News.

Laserfiche was originally selected by the bank to facilitate loan document storage, Munoz said, noting that over the years the bank’s technology needs grew and so did Laserfiche’s digital capabilities.

What started as a document storage company evolved into a full enterprise content management provider, Joman Kwong, strategic solutions manager at Laserfiche, told BAN.

D.L. Evans Bank continued to use Laserfiche technology as new solutions came out, Munoz said. In fact, now the bank uses Laserfiche in every area, including workflow automation, form documentation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, even the IT department, he said.

For example, during the pandemic the bank had looked to Laserfiche forms, a business process that helps collect data from users to carry out decisioning, for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, Munoz said. Through the forms’ technology, “we were able to automate the whole process within a matter of a day and were able to process over 3,000 PPP loans in hardly any time.”

D.L Evans Bank now has 25 automated forms live, he said.

Expanding with Laserfiche

The bank continues to identify areas that could benefit from the technology and, this week, a team of managers proposed expanding the use of Laserfiche since it represents significant efficiencies for D.L. Evans.

To expand its use, D.L. Evans Bank is having conversations with its core provider, Fiserv, to determine how the bank could integrate data between Fiserv and Laserfiche repositories, Munoz said. The bank is renegotiating its Fiserv contract and the integration is being discussed.

Laserfiche is a tech provider for $375 million American United Federal Credit Union and $2.5 billion Dakota Federal Credit Union and has partnerships with integration solutions MuleSoft and Boomi, which bring even more applications to the platform.
