Apparently, BancBox owns crowdfunding.

BancBox launched its payments and money movement platform in 2011, using application programming interfaces, or APIs, to allow customers to collect payments and , store and manage money, among other financial functions. Sometimes compared to Stripe, it then launched in April 2013 BancBox Invest (previously BancBox Crowd), a cloud-based crowdfunding platform that handles compliance for those raising funds.

BancBox disclosed yesterday to Bank Innovation that the platform’s API is now used by 18 crowdfunding platforms– half of the top-tier platforms, the company says — and has processed over $4 million in just three months.  BancBox Invest counts among its customers 99 Funding, Angel RoundUp, SeedInvest and others.

TechCrunch points out that BancBox Invest has no competition at this point, and crowdfunding is booming. BancBox processes over $2 billion in transactions a year, so Invest is just a small piece of its business.
