Sumit Sukhramani officially joined Truist on Aug. 31 from Wells Fargo as the bank’s first head of lending technology.
Sukhramani is responsible for the technology that supports Truist’s lending platforms, including real estate, credit card, unsecured and indirect lending businesses, a bank spokesperson told FinAi News.
He reports to Lo Li, chief divisional technology, data and operations officer for consumer and small business banking, the spokesperson said.
“Sumit has the ability to combine strong technical expertise with a focus on outcomes for clients and teammates,” Li told FinAi News. “He is a collaborative leader with deep lending and consumer experience and I’m excited about the perspective and capabilities he brings as we continue advancing our technology platforms.”
At Wells, Sukhramani held a similar title, head of home lending technology, according to LinkedIn. He spent more than six years at Wells in lending leadership roles, from personal lending and card operations to auto, consumer, home and unsecured lending.
During his time at the $2.3 trillion Wells, “we tackled complex problems, modernized platform and capabilities, and embraced new ways of working and increasingly explored how AI can help deliver better outcomes,” Sukhramani said in a Sept. 1 LinkedIn post.
Prior to Wells, he held leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase, including executive director and home lending and auto technology leader.
The move comes as leadership at Truist officially turns over to Michael Lyons, who was appointed president and chief executive of the $556 billion bank effective Sept. 1.
Sukhramani follows in the Wells-to-Truist footsteps of Steve Hagerman, chief technology and operations officer at Truist. He made the move to Truist in 2024 as chief information officer.
