DuPage Credit Union is the latest credit union to tap AI lending marketplace Upstart.
The Naperville, Ill.-based credit union, which serves more than 46,000 members, announced April 8 that it is using Upstart to expand its digital lending experience.
The credit union went live with Upstart in January, an Upstart spokesperson told FinAi News.

While the credit union still offers application and onboarding processes on its own website, “with Upstart, DuPage Credit Union has also added a new channel via Upstart.com for expanding its personal lending program,” the spokesperson said.
Since the beginning of the year, several credit unions have selected Upstart to enhance their personal lending portfolios, according to Upstart. They include;
- Lakewood, Wash.-based Harborstone Credit Union;
- Irwindale, Calif.-based Rize Credit Union; and
- San Diego-based MyPoint Credit Union.
“By partnering with Upstart, we are able to grow beyond our traditional channels to reach new audiences, while delivering a modern, streamlined lending experience to more individuals across the communities we serve,” MyPoint Credit Union Chief Operating Officer Peter Butler said in a release early this year.
National bank charter application
In March, Upstart shared its plans to submit a national bank charter application to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
“Applying for a bank charter is the natural evolution of our business as we’ve grown in size, scale and product offerings,” Upstart Chief Technology Officer Paul Gu said in a March release. Gu will become CEO on May 1.
