Wells Fargo is looking to Google Cloud to deploy agentic AI at scale.

The $1.95 trillion bank will use Google Agentspace, Google Cloud announced today.

The Agentspace platform allows Google clients to build, manage and use AI agents, according to Google. Enterprise editions of Agentspace start at $25 per seat per month.

“This is about enhancing processes and providing stronger insights,” Tracy Kerrins, consumer CIO and head of enterprise generative AI at the bank, told Bank Automation News.

“We think the tools will help our employees do their jobs better, more efficiently, but even more importantly, provide insights and intelligence to the work they’re doing so they can spend more time on higher order functions.”

Kerrins said Wells Fargo’s use of the platform expands on the bank’s existing use of the cloud provider.

  • Wells Fargo announced its multicloud strategy with Google Cloud in September 2021; and
  • Announced that its virtual assistant, Fargo, would also be powered by Google Cloud AI in October 2022.

Use cases

The bank expects to use AI agents across channels, according to today’s release. Custom agents can be deployed within digital operations, branches and call centers.

Agents will be used within Wells Fargo’s corporate and investment bank to help employees answer queries regarding foreign exchange post-trade and navigate policies and procedures, according to the release.

The bank will also use NotebookLM, an AI-powered research and writing tool offered in Agentspace, according to the release.

“We see a lot of potential in future use cases that provide seamless experiences,” Kerrins said.
