AI is driving measurable improvements at Truist Financial, with focus areas including underwriting, customer service and wholesale.
The $544 billion bank used generative AI to create 3.4 million call center summaries, each in seconds, in the first quarter, according to its Q1 earnings presentation today.
Truist is zeroing in on AI to enhance productivity, underwriting and client engagement throughout the company,” Chief Executive Bill Rogers said during today’s earnings call.
“We see AI as a real operating lever — one that improves the client experience while also creating productivity and operating leverage across our businesses without compromising control, safety and reliability,” he said. “Our focus is on using AI to strengthen relationships, giving clients faster, more personalized service, and enabling our teammates to spend more time advising and problem-solving, not navigating processes.”
The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank has delivered 1.8 billion personalized AI-driven insights since 2023, driving 231 million client interactions, according to the presentation. Its AI chatbot has handled more than 12.5 million queries since 2023, with more than 9 million completed without human intervention.

Truist is also enhancing wholesale operations with AI, using predictive analytics to improve financial adviser effectiveness, accelerate underwriting, and increase lead generation and conversions, Rogers said.
“These capabilities are helping us serve clients more efficiently, while improving returns and speed to market overall,” he said. “We see clear evidence that our strategy is working.”
