Prevail Bank is expecting big returns from AI after selecting fintech Jack Henry as its core banking technology provider.

The Medford, Wis.-based mutual bank is most excited about Jack Henry’s “AI-generated summaries within authenticated online and mobile banking chat,” Chief Operating Officer Phil Suckow told FinAi News.

“For a community bank, the ability to automatically capture and summarize customer interactions creates meaningful value on multiple fronts,” he said.

“We expect this feature alone to save more than 100 staff hours annually while improving CRM documentation consistency, reducing manual notetaking and allowing team members to spend more time serving customers.”

Prevail, which selected Jack Henry on Aug. 20, employs 135 people, he added.

The $1 billion bank is also optimistic about Jack Henry’s AI solution for financial crimes management, Suckow said, noting that processes tied to anti-money laundering, transaction monitoring and fraud detection have traditionally been handled by separate tools and teams.

AI can “bring these functions together under a unified financial crimes strategy,” he said. “As fraud threats become more sophisticated and transaction volumes continue to grow, AI can help improve detection, increase operational efficiency and create a more scalable model for community banks without requiring a proportional increase in staffing.”

The bank is focused on boosting employee productivity, increasing internal knowledge of AI and partnering with vendors that accelerate innovation in a responsible way, Suckow said.

“By reducing manual tasks, improving access to information and streamlining processes, AI allows team members to focus more of their time on customer relationships, problem-solving and growth-oriented activities.”

Some 60% of U.S. banks use Jack Henry, according to the company, including:

  • Eastern Bank;
  • First Commonwealth Bank;
  • First Horizon Bank;
  • First Mid Bank and Trust;
  • Regions Bank;
  • Sonata Bank; and
  • South State Bank.

‘Two-pronged approach’

Jack Henry is taking a “two-pronged approach” to drive AI adoption among its clients, Chief Data Officer Keith Fulton told FinAi News.

“The first is that we are building AI features directly into our products and workflows that clients already use every day to make them better, more accurate and more efficient,” he said.

Secondly, “we are building an agentic API layer that will allow clients to bring their own AI technologies into their companies to leverage Jack Henry tools in ways we never imagined, in ways we cannot anticipate today.”

Jack Henry uses a hybrid of cloud and on-premises solutions to support AI, Fulton said, adding that most banking tasks do not require frontier model capabilities.

“We are working to establish local model capabilities for work efforts where absolute privacy is paramount and where a ‘smart enough’ model is enough,” he said.

Jack Henry offers 22 AI-powered products and has “identified more than 20 additional AI capabilities for release over the next six months,” Fulton said.

FinAi Lending Summit, set for Oct. 7-8 in Las Vegas, will include speakers from Fifth Third and Capital One as well as a fireside chat with Piermont Bank founder and Chief Executive Wendy Cai-Lee. To learn more about the 2026 event and register for early-bird pricing through Sept. 4, visit here.
