University Federal Credit Union is on the hunt for a chief technology officer.
The $4 billion credit union is prioritizing agility, scalability and resilience as it builds out its digital capabilities, Sumeet Grover, executive vice president and chief strategic growth and digital officer at UFCU, told Bank Automation News.
Grover, who joined the Austin, Texas-based credit union four months ago, is spearheading the credit union’s digital efforts — including finding a CTO in the next six to eight weeks. The financial institution is looking to:
- Develop a plug-and-play, API-led architecture for scalable service delivery; and
- Modernize front-end experiences across mobile and web channels.
Grover is recruiting for the credit union’s new CTO via LinkedIn. The new hire will implement the credit union’s digital strategy. “We are looking for a leader who can help us lead a bold three- to five-year modernization roadmap to deliver a future-ready, API-first ecosystem.”
When UFCU’s chief information officer recently retired, it was time to bring someone new onto the leadership team, Grover said. “Having a CTO will be very key for us, given where we want to be,” he said.
“There’s no more gray area for credit unions versus banks when it comes to automation and technology,” he said
The new CTO will be the architect of UFCU’s next-generation technology platform, designing it to be:
- Secure;
- Cloud-native;
- AI-ready; and
- Built to scale.
This is all necessary “as a foundation for long-term transformational member service and growth,” Grover said.
The $4 billion Lake Michigan Credit Union also has a CTO in place, while Addition Financial Credit Union and Genisys Credit Union do not have CTO roles.
To remain competitive and meet client needs, UFCU must have the right tech, and people, in place, he said.
