HSBC expects the partnership to enable more than 200 new AI use cases over the next two years, according to the release. The bank said the initiatives could generate more than $100 million each in revenue gains or efficiency improvements. HSBC already operates more than 600 applications on Google Cloud.

The program will initially focus on:

Delivering hyperpersonalized wealth management support; Strengthening financial crime risk management; and Expanding AI-powered tools for frontline employees. AI-driven insights will help relationship managers provide more tailored financial guidance to clients, the bank said. It also plans to deploy generative and agentic AI to identify financial crime risks earlier and intervene twice as quickly across nearly 1 billion transactions monitored monthly.

Group CEO Georges Elhedery said AI is becoming “one of the defining technologies of our time,” enabling personalized customer experiences while keeping human judgment and accountability central to decision-making.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian called the partnership “a blueprint for the future of the financial services industry.”
