LONDON — Finastra has designs to double the number of APIs it offers to 120. Bank Innovation believes this will be the greatest number of APIs offered by one financial technology company.
Martin Haering, chief marketing officer of Finastra, told Bank Innovation at Sibos this week that the doubling of APIs will happen within the next six months and is part of a major transformation at Finastra. The APIs will be offered free for the trying, but they eventually would come with a price tag to users, should the API contribute to revenue generation, he said. That price tag might be a fixed monthly rate or based on the number of API data pulls, depending on the API.
Finastra has about 200 fintechs on its Marketplace platform, which is designed to allow tech companies to leverage the APIs to offer products to Finastra clients. Haering noted that Finastra continues to build out comprehensive sandbox services for financial institutions and initially will focus on offering those services to its existing FI clients, of which the company has more than 9,000 globally.
Finastra was formed in 2017 upon the combination of Misys and D+H. The company operates in 130 companies and employs more than 10,000. It is privately held.
