Banks and credit unions are using data-driven insights to diversify their offerings, create personalized experiences and grow their operations.
Use of data-driven insights is one of three strategies banks and credit unions are investing in to create digital organizations, according to tech provider Alkami’s 2025 Digital Banking Playbook, released Oct. 9.
“Customers are just asking for more and more out of their digital banking provider,” Jeff Chen, chief of staff of product at Alkami, told Bank Automation News.
The $6 billion Intrepid Credit Union went live with Alkami’s Digital Banking Platform in September and will launch its data analytics automation solution within 60 days, Intrepid Credit Union Chief Executive Greg Strizich told BAN. He said the ability to identify the preferences of members and provide the right member with the right product at the right time is key.
“There are so many organizations out there that are offering competing banking alternatives … and the technology is evolving so quickly and members’ expectations are rising so rapidly that credit unions really need to adapt if they expect to provide a seamless and personalized digital experience to the members,” Strizich said.
Along with automation that relies on data analytics, the credit union based in Helena, Mont., is also rolling out a digital card issuance solution with Alkami to simplify procedures when cards are stolen or lost, Strizich said.
Selecting Alkami
When considering a new digital banking platform, Intrepid Credit Union was looking for a tech provider with an API-first approach and a customizable experience, Strizich said.
Intrepid made the switch to Alkami from online banking provider Netteller, Strizich said. The former solution “plateaued early after implementation and did not do the best job of really increasing member adoption. … We feel we have that solved with Alkami.”
The credit union started vetting Alkami in 2022 and integration of the platform started in early 2024, Alkami’s Chen told BAN.
