BNY deployed dozens of digital agents and its AI solutions were adopted by an increasing number of employees throughout the financial institution in the second quarter.
Adoption of Eliza, the $2 trillion FI’s enterprise AI platform, among its 49,900 employees reached 96% in the first half of the year, up from 36% at yearend 2024, according to BNY’s Q2 earnings presentation today. BNY reported revenue of $5 billion, up 9% year over year.
“It’s an exciting moment for AI at BNY,” Chief Executive Robin Vince said today during the earnings call.
Enterprise solutions and digital agents or “employees,” at BNY have jumped since 2024, according to the presentation, with the bank deploying 66 digital employees into its workforce.
The digital agents can take on tasks including cleaning up code or validating payment instructions, Chief Information Officer Leigh-Ann Russell told the Wall Street Journal.
Operating model transformation
BNY is also seeing progress within its Platforms Operating Model transition, which was introduced in 2022.
The operating model accomplishes the following:
- Organizes workflows;
- Simplifies and streamlines functions;
- Scales capabilities to be adaptable and reusable; and
- Optimizes how the bank brings products to market.
“2025 will be a milestone year for BNY’s transition into our platforms operating model, which realigns how we work and organize ourselves across the entire company,” Vince said.
BNY now has more than 50% of employees transitioned to the new model and expects to be at 100% “by this time next year.”
TRANSACTIONS
BNY has entered the following partnerships recently:
- Specialist active asset manager Liontrust is outsourcing its trading for investment funds and institutional accounts to BNY’s Buy-Side Trading Solutions group; and
- Digital asset infrastructure provider Ripple is using BNY as the primary customer of Ripple USD reserves.
