A hacker’s demo shows how easily credit cards can be read through clothes and wallets. This is “enabled” through the new NFC technology in credit cards and mobile phones, like in Visa’s payWave, Mastercard PayPass and Google Wallet (even though Google Wallet is more secure though you have to set the phone to “card emulation mode” before it “act as” a waveable credit card.

I’ve heard that with a little more sofisticated equipment you can scan these cards within up to 10 meters..pickpocket money in low values (but many times per card!) and steal the sensitive card information (card number, experation date, ccv, etc.).

Maybe the most interesting/fantastic info is that credit card companies suggests and give their users special wallets for “electonic theft protection”..like putting the cards in a steal covered thermos??
