Introducing AMQP – The Internet Protocol for Business Messaging Interoperability
The Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) is an open business standard for messaging that avoids proprietary technologies, and lowers the cost of enterprise middleware software integrations through open interoperability. Messaging middleware is a vital utility for distributed computing and thus is a critical element in technology architectures. Currently, JMS offers only a partial solution because it is reliant on Java and does not specify wire-level interoperability. A truly open platform for messaging must aspire to support any platform and any language. AMQP also provides organizations with an easier, more secure approach to passing real-time data streams and business transactions between organizations, across distributed cloud computing environments, and within mobile infrastructures.
