As I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to admire longevity. It’s tough enough getting to work every morning, but to do so year after year deserves kudos.

Which is why I took notice of an email from Keefe, Bruyette & Woods this morning. KBW, as it is known in the banking world, is arguably the leading boutique investment bank for the industry. It does banking as well, if not better, than any investment bank, and I’ve admired the firm for a while.

Today marks KBW’s 50th anniversary, and the company kicked off a virtual birthday party with an email marketing piece touting its successes. Any business that makes it to its 50th birthday gets my applause.

However, the very first line of the release — and I mean very first line — reads: “For a complete listing of our news releases, please click here,” and the “click here” was a hotlink to KBW’s website.
The only problem was the link at http://www.kbw.com/about/inv_relations.html was dead, as evidenced below.

Talk about squandering an opportunity. That 50th anniversary won’t come by again anytime soon, as far as I know, and you blow it with an errant link?
