Truist is tapping Wells Fargo CIO of Consumer Technology Steve Hagerman to fill its chief information officer role.
Hagerman was the “right person at the right time for our enterprise technology team,” a Truist spokesperson told Bank Automation News, noting that selecting a new CIO was a “thorough process.”

The announcement, made today, follows some turbulence at the Charlotte, N.C.-based bank, including the following departures:
- CIO Scott Case left the bank in April;
- Chief Information and Experience Officer Ken Meyer left the bank in September 2023; and
- CIO of Wholesale and Enterprise Functions Bryce Elliott left the bank in December.
“Steve has deep experience serving clients, inspiring teams and driving business results through technology innovation and modernization,” Truist Chairman and Chief Executive Bill Rogers said in a release today.
Hagerman will replace Truist’s interim CIO Brad Bender. When he joins the Truist team on Oct. 28, Hagerman will report to Rogers, according to the release.
