Citi has appointed former Goldman Sachs executive Artie Ambrose as head of treasury and trade solutions operations, the bank announced Tuesday.
Ambrose was formerly global head of treasury services operations at $1.6 trillion Goldman Sachs, where he helped build the investment bank’s digital banking and treasury business. Ambrose will now focus on scaling operations, reducing risk and improving client experience via automation for $2.3 trillion Citi’s Treasury and Trade business.

Ambrose will report to Nicola Kane, head of institutional clients group (ICG) operations, and will work closely with Shahmir Khaliq, global head of treasury and trade solutions.
BNP Paribas appoints Jenkin new head of prime services technology
John Jenkin has joined $2.9 trillion French banking titan BNP Paribas (BNPP) from $4 trillion JPMorgan Chase, where he will serve as head of prime services technology, the bank announced last week.
At JPMorgan, Jenkin was head of prime finance technology and has more than 20 years of business technology experience. Prime services, a business area that assists hedge funds and institutional entities with custodianship, clearance and execution, is represented at several large investment banks, including Citi and $1.94 trillion Wells Fargo. In this new role, Jenkin will support product expansion and technology growth in the prime services business area.
“I am excited to be part of BNPP’s growth in prime services, developing product and scale as the business continues to expand,” Jenkin said in a release. “This is a rare opportunity to make a big contribution to a large, successful business very much in growth mode, and I look forward to working with the team to support the forward momentum and success.”
Santander promotes chief consumer and digital transformation officer
Santander Bank, a U.S. retail subsidiary of $1.73 trillion Banco Santander, has promoted Pierre Habis to chief consumer and digital transformation officer, the bank recently announced.
Habis joined Santander in 2020 as head of consumer business banking, where he supervised the bank’s retail and small business banking. In his new role, he will help the bank expand its digital presence in the U.S. and enhance the customer experience.
Habis previously served as head of consumer banking at $3.1 trillion MUFG Bank and held management roles at $3.24 trillion Bank of America and Wells Fargo.
Lloyds Bank looks to hire group head of data ethics
A Wednesday job posting alerted the banking world to an open data position at Britain’s biggest retail bank.
Lloyds Bank is actively hiring for a group head of data ethics role, to be based in its Bristol, U.K., office. The position will “embed data and analytics culture across the business to enable a data-enabled organization,” according to the post, and will utilize machine learning (ML) to ensuredata is “used for good.”
Requirements for the position include:
- Leadership-level experience of embedding data ethics best practices and ethical data use framework in large-scale complex organizations;
- Sound knowledge of analytics, data science life cycles, and how to support and demonstrate these capabilities to promote data ethics best practices, tooling, checks and monitoring;
- Experience in setting strategy, securing investment, leading design and technology decisions, through to oversight of implementation and embedding;
- Holder of appropriate data protection qualification or keen to develop specialist knowledge.
