UniCredit has created a flexible cloud migration plan as it scales its digital offerings through Google Cloud.
The Milan, Italy-based bank entered into a 10-year agreement with Google Cloud to use the tech giant’s AI, data and analytics, and overall digital architecture, according to a May 12 release.

“We have built a migration plan that balances a range of factors including ease of moving to the cloud, cost, regulatory compliance and need to maintain operational excellence,” a UniCredit spokesperson told Bank Automation News. “This [plan] can flex as factors change, and we will be managing this carefully.”
UniCredit plans to migrate “a range of applications” starting with applications from its core data estate and business applications, the spokesperson said.
Google Cloud solutions
The bank will use these Google Cloud tools to boost its digital capabilities:
- Google Compute Engine;
- Native security solutions;
- Vertex AI platform; and
- Google Gemini models.
“We expect capability improvement across core infrastructure, security posture on cloud and data and analytics tooling,” the spokesperson said.
UniCredit joins Citi and TD that also have multi-year agreements with Google Cloud.
