Chime Financial is betting that the rise of AI agents will work in its favor, with executives detailing plans to allow outside agents to access member accounts.
Co-founder and Chief Executive Chris Britt called AI one of four growth areas, alongside its Prime tier, lending and the pending Stride Bank acquisition, during the company’s third-quarter earnings call on Nov. 4.
He said agents will erode the inertia that has long protected incumbent banks.

“As agents compare product features, fees and trust, we believe Chime is positioned to win with great products at low cost and a brand that members love,” he said.
However, general purpose agents and finance agents must be treated differently, Britt said.
In regulated categories, he said, trusted specialist agents will win, because moving money and paying bills demand expertise, safeguards and accountability beyond raw intelligence.
AI agents and Jade
That conviction underpins Jade, the company’s personal finance agent, which Britt called Chime’s biggest AI bet.
The tool reads a member’s full financial picture to optimize their money atop a regulated account. The adoption rate and capabilities are expanding for Jade, which was launched in 2024.
“We’re also building secure connections to the general purpose AI agents that members choose, bringing Chime’s expertise and safeguards to those interactions,” he said. “Members can use their preferred agent while staying in control of who can access their accounts and what actions agents can take with their money.”
The Stride Bank acquisition bolsters the bank’s AI growth plan, Britt said.
Owning a bank charter has made Chime a vertically integrated platform, which is “required to win in the AI era,” giving the FI control over product velocity and lower funding costs, Britt said.
Chime announced its intention to acquire Stride, a $5.4 billion bank, in September for $590 million in cash. The digital bank expects nearly $100 million in combined cost savings and revenue generation in the first half of 2027, when the deal is expected to close.
BY THE NUMBERS: In Q3, Chime reported:
- Active members of 10.9 million, up 19.8% year over year;
- Average revenue per active user of $270, up 10% YoY;
- Revenue of $718 million, up 32.1% YoY;
- Gross profits of $646 million, up 36.3% YoY.
Shares of Chime Financial [NYSE: CHYM] were up 0.01% from market open to $29.86. Chime has a market capitalization of $11.3 billion.
