CaixaBank grows agentic AI capabilities with Google Cloud

CaixaBank will deploy Gemini Enterprise, Google Cloud 's AI platform, to help employees synthesize complex financial information, automate routine tasks and optimize daily workflows. The Valencia, Spain-based bank began working with Google Cloud in 2023 to support broader data management and analytics, and technology infrastructure, CaixaBank Chief Operating Officer Luis Javier Blas told FinAi News . This agreement, announced Oct. 9, extends that alliance to 2033. In the deal, the bank will use Google Cloud ’s secure infrastructure for the development, governance and deployment of AI agents, he said. [caption id="attachment_57372371" align="alignright" width="330"] Courtesy/CaixaBank[/caption] The expanded agreement "identifies data analytics, agentic AI, hybrid infrastructure and security as the principal areas of collaboration," Blas said. "AI is already applied across CaixaBank [for] operational efficiency, employee productivity, customer and employee service, decision support, risk management and process automation," he said. "It includes virtual assistants for customers and employees, document processing, payment-dispute management, customer-query support, predictive models for credit scoring and fraud detection, and tools that help employees analyze documents and prepare decisions." The agreement enhances these capabilities through specialized agents that can organize large quantities of information into actionable insights and improve document management, Blas said. "The agents are intended to help employees navigate large volumes of information more efficiently," he said. "They will not replace professional judgment. "CaixaBank’s responsible-AI approach maintains human oversight for decisions that can have a material or legal effect on stakeholders," Blas said. CaixaBank will pair its ecosystem with Google Cloud's secure infrastructure to improve system resilience and scalability to accommodate growth, according to a release from the bank. The rollout also adds advanced threat detection and security monitoring. 'Front door for AI' Google Cloud launched Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services on Aug. 25, including a financial research agent, 50 skills tailored to financial roles and workflows, enterprise data connections and a third-party agent ecosystem, according to a release from Google Cloud. CaixaBank had already deployed the base Gemini Enterprise platform. Google Cloud Chief Executive Thomas Kurian called Gemini Enterprise "the new front door for AI in the workplace" in an October 2025 blog post.
