Global technology provider HCLTech is developing gen AI solutions both internally and by teaming up with AI giants to meet the demands of its financial services clients, which include:

- $1.6 trillion Deutsche Bank;

- $2.1 trillion Barclays; and
- The $868 billion State Bank of India.
HCLTech is embedding Amazon Web Services’ gen AI platforms, including AWS Bedrock and SageMaker, into its operations, Srinivasan Seshadri, chief growth officer and global head of financial services at HCLTech, told FinAi News.
This collaboration aims to combine AWS’s deep financial services expertise and scalable cloud infrastructure with HCLTech’s consultative approach and flexible delivery models to help FIs serve their customers, Seshadri said. Demand from his company’s financial services clients for precision tools at scale is a factor behind its work with AWS.
“Our approach is to make AI intrinsic for every workflow, ensuring that innovation is scalable, secure and contextually relevant,” Seshadri said.
HCLTech plans to embed Bedrock in these key services:
- Risk management;
- Fraud management;
- Personalized banking;
- Compliance; and
- Service capabilities, such as chatbots and gen AI tools for customer service representatives.
The financial services industry is moving from automation to autonomy, in which systems learn, adapt and act independently, Seshadri said. This transition requires gen AI and partners like AWS, he added.
Gen AI at large at HCLTech
Gen AI has been a part of HCLTech’s offering for a few years, and is seeing high demand from clients, Seshadri said.
“Gen AI solutions have seen tremendous traction across our financial services portfolio, with clients eager to leverage its transformative potential,” he said.
“Financial institutions are deploying gen AI to transform processes such as fraud management, claims processing, customer service and regulatory reporting.”
Streamlining bank ops
HCLTech implements custom AI tools at banks to make operations efficient, Seshadri said. At one global European bank, which he declined to identify , HCTech’s gen AI solution reduced data preparation time for processes such as market analysis by 80% — from several hours to just 15 minutes per dataset.
“Overall analysis time dropped from 8.75 hours to 25 minutes,” he said. “Additionally, alert resolution accelerated by nearly 20%, reducing financial and compliance risks.”
With its AWS collaboration, HCLTech aims to increase efficiency in its models and offerings, Seshadri said. For 2026, the company’s “focus remains on deepening gen AI adoption and accelerating the journey toward autonomous solutions.”
