J.P. Morgan Payments has implemented emerging technology into embedded finance to streamline processes, validate data and scale onboarding.
“There’s a lot of new innovations right now in this space,” Ryan Schmiedl, global head of embedded finance platform and products and global head of payments trust and safety and AI/ML at J.P. Morgan Payments, said July 22 during Bank Automation News’ webinar, “Seamless integration: The next frontier in embedded payments.”
The emergence of agentic AI will allow J.P. Morgan to combine tasks and reasoning to create the right level of friction without having to add people, he said.
The addition will support the bank’s use of other technology within embedded payments including AI and data validation, he said.
“We’re spending a lot of time with data, validating vendors, validating our own pieces, leveraging AI in a place that makes sense,” Schmiedl said.
The bank is using AI to automate processes including identity verification, document upload and document verification, Schmiedl said. Data validation vendors are tapped to ensure the bank meets the onboarding and KYC requirements, which vary by region.
