Software giant UiPath is rolling out an enterprise-grade agentic AI platform designed to serve as a liaison between AI agents, robotic process automations and humans to streamline workflow automation.

The platform, dubbed Maestro, “knows how to seamlessly orchestrate agents, robots and people, all at scale,” Taqi Jaffrey, senior director of product management at UiPath, said during an April 30 launch webinar.

  • AI agents analyze user prompts and recommend actions;
  • Humans approve AI recommendations before execution; and
  • RPA bots carry out approved tasks securely.

Fis adopting agentic AI

Agentic AI adoption in financial services is on a growth trajectory, as FIs set up centers of excellence specifically to drive accelerated deployment of AI and agentic AI, Ronak Doshi, partner at consulting firm Everest Group, told Bank Automation News.

“As bank employees start using generative AI and agentic AI in their daily lives, as well as for basic operations such as IT service management chatbots, document search and analysis, and work automation with email, chat and workflow integrations, they will see openness to adopt AI and change their way of working to an AI-first mode,” Doshi said.

Typical financial services use cases that UiPath’s Maestro can streamline workflows for include:

  • Loan eligibility determination through AI-powered data collection;
  • Loan approval with adherence to compliance regulations;
  • Generating test cases such as bad-credit scenarios for training agents; and
  • Error recovery during process automations to preserve banking operations.

Scaling up

UiPath’s Jaffrey said developers using the Maestro platform can also build prototype agents in UiPath Studio, its browser-based automation platform, using supplied low-code tools and the Python and TypeScript programming languages.

“We thought hard about what would be the blueprints of taking a non-deterministic technology like LLMs and creating a deterministic, scalable reliable framework to put them in the context of enterprise,” Dines said.

UiPath is not the only software provider innovating agentic AI. Acuity Knowledge Partners on April 28 rolled out Acuity Agent Fleet, a domain-specific no-code AI platform that uses finance-specific agents to automate tasks for banks, asset managers and private equity firms.

Acuity Agent Fleet is prebuilt financial agents that automate data analysis and reporting, integrating directly with tools like Microsoft Office.

Other, similar platforms include:

  • Microsoft Agent Flows, which enables developers to build AI agents that trigger tasks, connect apps and click through screens;
  • IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate, which uses AI agents to coordinate multi-turn workplace and route tasks to appropriate tools or humans; and
  • Automation Anywhere’s APA, which creates end-to-end workflows and manages robots using AI agents in a single console.

Institutions can access a trial of UiPath’s Maestro platform on its website, with full general availability slated for this month, Jaffrey said.
