Thread Bank named Marty Miracle as its first chief digital officer to scale its embedded banking business.
“Our embedded banking strategy is centered around innovation while keeping a community feel,” Chief Executive Chris Black told Bank Automation News. “As we execute more integrations, Marty is here as chief digital officer to ensure sound delivery in the near term while implementing processes and procedures for long-term sustainability.”

Miracle started in the role Aug. 4, a Thread Bank spokesperson told BAN.
Miracle joins the $722 million, digital bank based in Rogersville, Tenn., from $1.5 billion Sutton Bank. He was chief technology officer, chief information security officer and certified chief AI officer during his tenure there, according to the bank’s Aug. 7 release.
“My past professional experience has provided me with opportunities to architect and lead technology transformations across many industries, including fintech, supporting banking,” Miracle told BAN.
In his new role, he will be responsible for:
- Technology strategy;
- Overseeing engineering and infrastructure;
- Cybersecurity functions; and
Thread joins $4 billion University Federal Credit Union in adding to its tech leadership team. The $4 billion Lake Michigan Credit Union also has a CTO in place.
New to C-suite
Miracle’s appointment comes on the heels of other C-suite appointees. Thread has named these leaders over the past several years:
- Bob Diegel as chief operations officer in February;
- Rickman Davis as chief credit officer in January; and
- Mike Farrell as chief financial officer in September.
