Mastercard and Visa focused on innovation in the most recent quarter.

“We are winning deals across the globe through the combination of our new innovation products, differentiated services and our solution selling approach,” Mastercard Chief Executive Michael Miebach said during today’s second-quarter earnings call.

New Mastercard products include its automated Mastercard Receivable Manager launched with B2B software and payments platform BillTrust.

Visa, too, prioritized innovation, Chief Executive Ryan McInerney said during Tuesday’s third-quarter earnings call. “Our payments products and innovations consistently help us win.”

For example, during the quarter Visa won a renewal with Hyundai in which Hyundai “will be taking advantage of our digital payment solutions, like data and analytics services, to launch a series of new innovations,” he said.

As Visa and Mastercard prioritized innovation, American Express teamed up with Square to launch business credit cards for its customers, Chief Executive at American Express Stephen Squeri said during American Express’s Q2 earnings call last week.

Mastercard and Visa also closed some wins during the quarter.

Mastercard announced it will work with Fiserv’s Money Network “for all U.S. state and federal government benefit and wage disbursement debit programs,” Miebach said.

Additionally, KBank in Thailand renewed its relationship with Visa debit and signed a deal to launch a new business debit card, McInerney said. Visa also signed a long-term partnership with NatWest Group for consumer debit and credit.

“Our clients tell us they choose Visa because our innovative products help ensure they are delivering leading-edge payment solutions to their customer,” McInerney said.
