BNY has deployed an AI-driven chat bot within its API marketplace to help clients navigate offerings.
The chatbot was designed “to help those clients that are utilizing our APIs for embedded finance,” Carl Slabicki, executive platform owner of treasury services at BNY, said during today’s Bank Automation News webinar, “Seamless integration: The next frontier in embedded payments.”

The AI-driven chat bot helps clients better understand:
- How to use the APIs;
- The APIs are available;
- The different codes are available; and
- How to plug and play the APIs.
“It’s an AI-driven agent that’s chatting with our clients, helping them actually navigate the API store,” Slabicki said.
The bot also allows clients who want self-service capabilities, like those on the tech engineering side of the house, to find information in the marketplace on their own, Slabicki said.
Historically, clients were navigating documentation and experiences on the website on their own, but with the chat bot they can more seamlessly find what they are looking for, whether its code, examples or test cases, for example, he said.
The bot is built on BNY’s AI platform, Eliza, which leverages multiple learning models to build agents across the bank, Slabicki said, noting that Eliza was named for the wife of Alexander Hamilton, the bank’s founder.
The Eliza AI platform is being adopted by BNY’s employees. In fact, 96% of BNY employees used Eliza in the second quarter, up from 36% at yearend 2024, according to BNY’s Q2 earnings presentation.
