FIS puts a number on AI trust, lets CFO set the bar

FIS is betting that finance teams will hand more work to AI agents if a bar measuring trust is set. The banking and payments technology giant on, Oct. 22, launched its FIS Agentic Insights Suite, an agentic AI system for the office of the chief financial officer that forecasts cash across multiple horizons and scores credit risk and business health in real time, Pamela Ralli , vice president of solutions leader automated finance, told FinAi News . Confidence in the agents is what she highlighted. “Every insight and recommended action comes with a pass rate, which shows the assessed likelihood that the output is valid and actionable,” she said. "This is displayed to the user, not calculated in the background. If the pass rate falls below the threshold the customer has set for that workflow, the action doesn’t go ahead. Instead, it’s sent for human review.” Setting pass rate That threshold is set by the customer and Ralli said it swings widely with risk appetite. “A CFO who’s happy to act on a directional forecast at 80% confidence works very differently from a controller whose governance requires 97% or higher before any automated action is recommended,” she said. “Both are valid and the threshold is always the customer’s choice rather than a default set by FIS.” Ralli said the score sits atop a data pipeline that is the real guardrail — a live concern for anyone wiring enterprise resource planning [ERP], treasury and CRM feeds into an agent that can act on cash. “We start with the data, because good AI depends on data you can trust ,” she said. “If the system can’t reconcile a data point with enough confidence, it flags the uncertainty instead of hiding it.” Underlying all of it, Ralli said, is one rule: “An AI agent should never have more authority than the person or role it supports.” A CFO, she said, “should always be able to see why a recommendation was made, what data it was based on and how confident the system was.” The tool targets a gap in AI adoption in the CFO’s office. In Deloitte ’s Finance Trends 2026 survey, 46% of finance leaders named working capital optimization as a top use for agentic AI, while just 14% had fully integrated AI agents. The suite, which deploys in weeks, drives its existing receivables and treasury workflows, with payment anomaly detection and dispute forecasting coming in later releases, Ralli said.
