Ripple's agentic treasury tool can reduce reporting cycle times by 90%

Financial services and DeFi company Ripple, says its agentic AI tool for corporate treasury teams can cut forecasting and reporting cycles by more than 90%, and humans still sign off on every financial decision. Ripple announced an expansion of GSmart, the AI layer inside its Ripple Treasury platform, last month, adding different agents for forecasting, liquidity, risk, reconciliation and reporting functions. The company also added Knowledge Studio, where treasury teams define the policies and controls the AI works within, and Analytics Studio, which includes a conversational assistant called Ask GSmart, Ashley Pater , vice president of global transformations for Ripple’s Treasury division, told FinAi News . [caption id="attachment_220645" align="alignright" width="290"] Courtesy/CanStock[/caption] "Forecasting and reporting cycles can be reduced by 90%-plus while forecast-accuracy can improve more than 30% with GSmart Ledger when deployed against a clean data foundation," Pater said. All agentic AI tools reside within the company’s GSmart Suit. The company agentic AI tool, GSmart Forecast Insights "can turn variance analysis that previously took hours into insights generated in seconds," Pater said. Growing agentic treasuries Adoption is growing among eligible customers. Sixty percent have turned on Risk Insights, which flags exposure anomalies, and 44% use Forecast Insights, which identifies liquidity gaps, the company wrote in a Sept. 10 release. Eligible customers are "those organizations that don't prohibit AI functionality in their operations based on stated board or security policies,” Pater said. "Treasury is a highly controlled function, and organizations differ in their data readiness, internal governance, risk appetite and where they see the most immediate value from AI," she said. Major FIs including JPMorgan and BNY are developing agentic treasury tools, according to FinAi News’ prior reporting. Recommend, don't execute GSmart keeps financial calculations separate from AI interpretation. Deterministic engines do the math, AI interprets policy and spots patterns, and treasury teams keep approval authority, Pater explained. "In an enterprise treasury environment, we believe there should be a clear distinction between AI recommending an action and having unilateral authority to execute it," she said. GSmart checks each proposed action against the customer's controls, sends it to a person for approval and logs it for audit. That leaves the responsibility for sound policy with the customer. "Customers remain responsible for establishing and maintaining the policies that govern their treasury operations, just as they do today," Pater said. "The accountability to determine whether a company's treasury policy is compliant should always remain with the organization, not AI." Ripple uses third-party large language models in GSmart but wouldn't name the providers. “The model itself is only one part of the architecture," Pater said. Digital assets alongside fiat Pater said the platform lets customers "hold any digital asset alongside fiat [ govern ment - issu ed cur rency ] natively with real-time market values." Customers don't have to hold digital assets to use digitally enabled money movement. Fiat currencies are currencies issued by governments. "We have customers who are currently using digital assets to move idle or operating cash into return generating vehicles during off-hours like overnights or weekends," Pater said. Ripple applied to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a national bank charter in 2025 and subsequently applied to the Federal Reserve for a master account in March 2026, according to FinAi News’ prior reporting.
