UnionDigital Bank says it has stopped all successful fraudulent account takeovers since implementing iProov’s biometric verification technology last year.
Since implementing London-based iProov’s technology, the bank has seen fraudsters abandon account takeover attempts when faced with authentication checks, Russell Hernandez, chief information security officer for the Philippines-based digital bank, told FinAi News.

The bank declined to comment on how many abandoned account takeovers it sees daily.
He said since the bank implemented two iProov solutions in October, Dynamic Liveness and Express Liveness, it has not only seen fewer attacks — the technology is deterring future attempts.
Prior to the tech, roughly 60% of the bank’s login attempts were fraudulent. Now that’s about 10% to 20%.
State of fraud in the Philippines
Across the Philippines, deepfake and AI fraud is on the rise, Hernandez said.
The Philippines suspected digital fraud rate was 4.1% in 2025, higher than the global rate of 3.8% for the sixth consecutive year, according to TransUnion Newsroom, a global consumer credit reporting agency.
Because the landscape of deepfake fraud is constantly in flux, iProov updates its products several times per week, Dominic Forrest, chief technology officer at iProov, told FinAi News.
iProov tech
iProov’s products run on its self-built models that have been stacked for multiple layers of protection and are adaptable to all types of software, Forrest said.
For example, Dynamic Liveliness, a product used by banks and governments, requires verification from about 20 models before granting approval to the user, he said.
The stack makes it difficult for attackers to test the system through trial and error because they are not sure what verification layer they have failed, Forrest said.
Additionally, iProov’s biometric verification technology can operate on decades-old mobile devices, which are still prevalent in many countries, including the Philippines, Forrest said.
When it comes to adapting to technology, modern or dated, “you’ve got to be able to cope with those things,” Forrest said.
To apply its technology to all types of software, iProov engineers its product to operate on poor cameras and devices with low processing power and memory, Forrest said.
UBS, Rabobank and ING are among iProov’s global clients, Forrest said.
