UiPath is using agentic AI to streamline mortgage lending operations by targeting one of the most complex and manual processes in financial services: loan origination and closing.

In a system for which “humans are the glue holding everything together,” the tech provider is introducing AI agents to orchestrate workflows, reduce rework and accelerate decisions across fragmented systems, Mark Rubinstein, director of product management at UiPath said, during a March 25 webinar.

The company has built three agentic AI tools to reduce mortgage application time by nearly 50%, Rubinstein said.

“The average mortgage takes about 42 to 60 days to close … We’re cutting that nearly in half,” he said.

UiPath built the AI tools in-house to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce manual validation and improve first-pass approval rates:

  • Loan Setup Agent for origination orchestration

This agent continuously evaluates loan applications across systems, flags risks and missing data in real time, and orchestrates the next steps, Rubinstein said. It creates a “single pane of glass” for loan officers, reducing back-and-forth between teams and cutting setup time by up to 50%, Rubinstein said.

  • QA/QC Agent for automated quality control

Focused on pre- and post-closing reviews, this agent compares documents, runs hundreds of checks in minutes, and highlights discrepancies, Emily Pham, principal product manager at UiPath, said during the webinar. “It transforms quality assurance from a manual, spreadsheet-driven process into an automated, exception-based workflow, reducing review time from hours to minutes,” she said.

  • Maestro-Orchestrated Agent Layer for end-to-end workflow control

UiPath Maestro, a cloud-native orchestration platform that blends automation and agentic AI, coordinates RPA, AI agents and human input across systems. It ensures loans progress automatically, triggers actions such as appraisals or borrower communication, and maintains auditability and compliance, Pham said.

The solutions are being deployed with a group of banks and credit unions, with broader rollouts this year planned across the Americas, Jack Miller, senior product manager at UiPath, said during the webinar.

UiPath counts major financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Citi, HSBC and BNP Paribas among its automation clients. The company did not disclose customers for its lending solution.

“This isn’t just incremental efficiency, it’s a move from fragmented manual effort to a streamlined, intelligent workflow that scales without adding headcount,” Pham said.
