Fintech Tyfone is onboarding credit unions and regional banks looking to upgrade their digital banking services.
Bronco Federal Credit Union selected Tyfone’s nFinia Digital Banking Platform to boost self-serve features for retail and commercial clients, according to a July 9 release from the Portland, Ore.-based fintech firm.

The $273 million credit union started its search for a new digital banking partner in December 2024 and was looking for a vendor that offered strong self-service capabilities and the flexibility to support the FI’s long-term digital strategy, Chief Information Officer Steve Pittman told Bank Automation News.
“We also made it a priority to involve staff in the selection process,” Pittman said. “A cross-functional team of 12 employees from across departments participated in product demonstrations and completed detailed evaluations.”
The key differentiators Tyfone displayed were its robust self-service capabilities, such as unassisted password reset, and the flexibility of its integration framework, Pittman said.
Self-serve features that Tyfone will provide to Franklin, Va.-based Bronco FCU include:
- ACH originations;
- Expanded internal and external transfer capabilities;
- Skip-a-payment functionality for credit cards; and
- Digital check deposits.
Tyfone’s API-driven platform was another selling point for Bronco FCU because it provides the flexibility the credit union needs to innovate quickly and integrate new tools over time, Pittman said.
“This approach supports our roadmap to launch features like online account opening with integrated loan applications, business banking enhancements and, eventually, real-time payments,” Pittman said.
Tyfone expects Bronco FCU to go live with its digital banking platform in the first half of 2026, depending on the size and complexity of its existing tech stack, Josh DeTar, executive vice president of Tyfone, told BAN.
Digital banking demand
For credit unions and regional banks, meeting these evolving expectations isn’t just about convenience. It’s crucial for retaining members and customers, attracting new ones and remaining competitive with larger institutions, DeTar said.
“The digital transformation isn’t just for the largest banks, it’s a fundamental expectation across the entire financial landscape,” he said. “This translates into a significant demand for sophisticated self-service capabilities, instant payment options, robust security and. increasingly, AI-driven tools within the financial services sector.”
Tyfone’s solution is custom-built because there is no “one size fits all,” DeTar said, adding that high configurability allows community financial institutions to tailor the digital experience to reflect its brand, member demographics and strategic priorities.
Tyfone has added six FI clients since the start of the year, including Caro FCU, Elga Credit Union and Gold Coast Federal Credit Union, according to BAN’s Transaction Database.
