State Employees’ Credit Union of Maryland selected account origination solution provider Mantl to digitalize its in-branch and online account opening process.
“SECU is implementing Mantl for retail and business account opening, integrating directly with their existing banking core,” Nathaniel Harley, co-founder and president of Mantl, told Bank Automation News.
SECU uses Alkami’s digital banking platform, which acquired Mantl this year, according to a February Alkami release.
“Because SECU is already an Alkami digital banking customer, the integration creates a seamless experience for customers, connecting account opening directly to online banking without any friction,” Harley said.
With Mantl, the $5.7 billion, Maryland-based credit union expects to cut its retail and business account opening process to less than 5 minutes, Jason Reimer, executive vice president, chief infrastructure and experience officer at SECU, told BAN.
Additionally, the tech is forecast to complete more than 85% of application decisioning, according to Mantl’s June 17 release.
Business lending automation
While the credit union leans on Mantl to enhance its account origination process, it is also tapping loan origination system Lenders Cooperative for business loan origination and processing, Reimer said.
With Mantl and Lenders Cooperative, “we are about to supercharge our business lending capabilities,” Reimer said, noting that the credit union serves nearly 10,000 businesses in Maryland.
SECU joins Arlington, Va.-based Primis Bank in tapping Lenders Cooperative for loan origination technology, according to an announcement today from the $3.7 billion Primis Bank.
With Lenders Cooperative, the bank can “enable a single platform for both conventional and SBA loan products, with a built-in team of LSP experts to augment and guide our team,” Primis CEO Dennis Zember said in the release.
