20 CUs to onboard InvestiFi’s securities platform in 2025

Digital investment solutions provider InvestiFi is expanding its customer pipeline in 2025 as credit unions turn to InvestiFi’s securities platform to foster member growth.

Credit unions are onboarding with InvestiFi to expand investment offerings to their members.

On the heels of a Jan. 6 announcement that credit unions $316.7 million United Financial and $190 million Bluestone Federal finalized their integrations with InvestiFi’s InvestTech securities investment platform, InvestiFi revealed that it plans to onboard 20 credit unions this year.

The tech provider also works with:

  • $1.4 billion Frankenmuth Credit Union; and
  • $950 million WeStreet Credit Union.

Case studies

United Financial, which completed the integration of InvestiFi’s platform in February 2024, has only recently begun offering investment options through the platform but is optimistic about its impact.

“While it’s still early in our journey with offering investment options through InvestiFi, we’ve already seen some encouraging signs. The expanded investment options have been well-received by members,” a United Financial spokesperson told Bank Automation News.

United Financial has already received feedback from members, with one of the most prevalent themes being ease of use, the spokesperson said.

The addition of InvestTech has also brought in a few new members and sparked an increase in engagement with United’s other digital services, particularly in December, the spokesperson said, adding that the credit union is in a more competitive position with larger financial institutions.

“We see this as a long-term growth opportunity, both in terms of membership growth and increased member loyalty,” the spokesperson said.

Bluestone has only had InvestiFi’s service enabled for a few months but has noticed raised interest and awareness by its members, a spokesperson for Bluestone told BAN.

The streamlined solution sits inside members’ online banking access, giving them more reasons to log into their Bluestone accounts, according to the spokesperson.

Investing in integration

InvestiFi’s platform enables credit union members to purchase and sell securities for a fee as low as $1, according to InvestiFi’s Jan. 6 release. Members also can access thousands of stocks and exchange-traded funds through InvestiFi’s subsidiaries, the release said.

Credit unions that don’t have InvestTech integrated will likely be limited to offering traditional wealth management services, which typically requires a $25,000 minimum to invest, Kian Sarreshteh, co-founder and chief executive at InvestiFi, told BAN.

“Sometimes it’s higher, sometimes it’s a little lower, but you know it’s a pretty high bar for a lot of credit union members to meet,” he said.

Core provider compatibility

InvestiFi has integrations in place with core providers to allow for quick go-to-market capabilities for credit unions on those platforms, Sarreshteh told said. Those core providers include:

  • Jack Henry;
  • Q2;
  • CU* Answers; and
  • Candescent.

United Financial and Bluestone Federal, for example, are both on the CU* Answers core.

However, in 2025 InvestiFi is adding to its pool of pre-integrated core providers with:

  • Tyfone;
  • Alkami;
  • Constellation; and
  • Apiture.

This year, a $5 billion credit union will be the first financial institution to integrate InvestiFi through the Alkami digital banking platform, he said.

Secure, streamlined investments

Integrating InvestiFi at credit unions also allows members to buy fractional crypto or shares without InvestiFi taking any transaction fees from the credit unions, Sarreshteh said.

“It really turns into a new stream of non-interest income for the credit union when a lot of credit unions are looking for new ways to monetize,” he said.

Credit unions using only InvestFi’s crypto product are seeing a 50% return on investment in the first year alone, Sarreshteh said.

Through InvestTech, credit union members can buy crypto or stock or make an investment right from their checking account, Sarreshteh said.

Competitors such as $5.8 trillion Fidelity and $1 billion Robinhood also claim to enable users to buy and sell securities for as low as $1. However, both companies on their websites warn that transactions go through third parties and user account data is shared with service partners.

With InvestiFi, “you don’t have to move money over to a third-party brokerage account or install an applied connection inside of online banking,” Sarreshteh said.

Instead, InvestiFi moves money to and from the credit union member’s checking account and the credit union’s general ledger to keep deposits in-house, he said.

“It definitely helps curb any sort of security concerns because money does not move,” Sarreshteh said.
