Financial technology provider Temenos will integrate money movement solution Visa Direct to its platform to provide banks with international money transfer capabilities.
Visa Direct will allow Temenos’ bank customers to use cross-border payments like person-to-person payments, funds disbursements and bill payments.

By working with Visa, Temenos is providing banks the flexibility to choose what kind of cross-border payments services they want to offer, including “specific routings, special currency rates or fees, speed of execution or transparency of process,” Mick Fennell, business line director for payments at Temenos, told Bank Automation News.
As cross-border business opportunities increase, demand for competitive, differentiated servicing of customers’ cross-border payments needs have increased, Fennell said.
“Many financial institutions are seeing the need to up their game by modernizing their capabilities, enabling them to provide more integration and servicing options to their clients, including support for services like Visa Direct,” he said.
Temenos teamed up with Mastercard last month for a similar offering and offer its bank customers both services, Fennell said.
PLS selects Green Dot for debit card
Financial services provider PLS has tapped digital bank Green Dot to power its latest debit card offering.
PLS and Green Dot started working together in August 2023 for a checking account for PLS customers and now PLS uses Green Dot’s debit card issuing capabilities.
The Xpectations! Plus debit card is backed by Green Dot’s single-source embedded finance platform and provides services including secure banking and money movement, Jamison Jaworski, general manager and senior vice president of the consumer division at Green Dot, told BAN.
Green Dot will support “PLS’ 200-plus locations nationwide that function as community hubs supporting their customers’ financial needs with essential services like cash access,” Jaworski said.
Austin, Texas-based Green Dot anticipates strong demand for the product since it offers early access to direct deposits, overdraft protection and free nationwide ATM access, Jaworski said, adding that the service will be provided to PLS through a cloud-based infrastructure and APIs.
PLS customers can get approved for the new card in minutes, Rob Fisher, senior vice president of support operations at PLS, told BAN, adding that the company aims to add more products in collaboration with Green Dot.
