Embedded finance platform provider Shaype has raised $21.3 million in a series C funding round led by investment firm Regal Fund Management.
The platform provides single API access to services for card payments, know your customer, data insights and real-time transaction monitoring across payment channels, according to the Sydney-based fintech’s website.
“Shaype is at the forefront of a new breed of fintech that can enable financial services better and more cost efficiently than any incumbent thanks to the platform’s control, flexibility and speed,” Philip King, chief investment officer of Sydney-based Regal Funds Management, said in a release.
Shaype has raised a total of $32.3 million over two funding rounds, according to Crunchbase. The capital will fund the company’s continued Australian and international expansion, according to a release.
Nomura invests in Fnality
Tokyo-based bank Nomura Holdings has invested in blockchain-based interbank Fnality for an undisclosed amount.
London-based Fnality is building a payment system that will enable tokenized, peer-to-peer markets and is expected to launch its first currency, the British pound, next month. The company has raised $63.3 million over three funding rounds, according to Crunchbase.
“The transformation of financial services powered by blockchain technology is clearly accelerating, and we believe Fnality is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the significant opportunities brought by this evolution,” Angel Issa, global head of corporate development and strategic investments at Nomura, said in a release.
Societe Generale acquires PayXpert
Investment bank Societe Generale has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in fintech PayXpert for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 2008, London-based PayXpert providers retail and online merchants secure solutions for accepting customer payments both in-store and remotely for card, mobile applications and QR codes. The acquisition will allow Paris-based Societe Generale to expand its payment acceptance offerings in Europe, according to a release.
“The acquisition of PayXpert would enhance our payment solutions offering by providing increasingly comprehensive and innovative services to our retail and online merchants,” Aurore Gaspar Colson, deputy head of Societe Generale Retail Banking in France, said in a release.
Toqio closes $19.6M series A
Fintech software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider Toqio has closed a $19.6 million series A funding round led by AlbionVC.
London-based Toqio provides a low-code platform to enable financial institutions and businesses to build new banking and finance solutions quickly. The company will use the funding to expand in Europe. It scaled its team to more than 100 employees in the past year, according to a release.
“After rapidly growing our team and entering the Spanish market, we’ll now be broadening our focus within Europe, including expansion into France and Germany,” Eduardo Martinez Garcia, CEO of Toqio, said in a release.
Toqio has raised $27.4 million over three funding rounds, according to Crunchbase.
Wordline acquires 40% of OPP
Payment services provider Worldline will acquire a 40% stake in Online Payment Platform BV (OPP) for an undisclosed amount.
Based in the Netherlands, OPP focuses on digital payments for marketplaces and platforms with a focus on the consumer-to-consumer segment. The company was founded in 2011. The acquisition will allow Bezons, France-based Wordline access to OPP’s European footprint and scalable technology, according to a release.
“We can leverage each other’s strengths to improve the service offering to OPP’s client base and roll it out to new geographies for new clients,” Richard Straver, founder of OPP, said in a release.
