Analytics software company SAS has completed its acquisition of risk management company Kamakura Corporation, the companies announced Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hawaii-based Kamakura creates data and software solutions for banks and banking enterprises, with a focus on risk management. The acquisition will bolster SAS’ existing risk analytics and software services as supply chain hurdles and recession fears dampen industry optimism, James Goodnight, SAS co-founder and chief executive, said in a release.

“This acquisition is an extension of tremendous investments already made in SAS’ cloud-ready risk management platform and integrated solutions,” Goodnight said. “It signals our intent to advance market-changing risk solutions to solve the most pressing challenges our financial services customers face. We foresee that the resulting strength of SAS technology, paired with Kamakura’s risk analytics and credit models, will prove far greater than the sum of its parts.”

SAS chose Kamakura over other competitors due to an alignment in research and analytic strategies, according to the release. The acquisition will bring Kamakura’s existing technologies into the SAS portfolio and will focus on asset liability management (ALM) solutions.
