Switzerland-based core provider Temenos will enable Google Cloud-native API access for French digital bank BforBank, the companies announced Tuesday.
Temenos, a digital banking vendor that powers services for Lloyds Bank, Varo and Microsoft, has been the digital provider for BforBank since its founding in 2009, and originally underpinned back-office processes for BforBank. The bank, which will move to a Temenos-enabled API build on the Google Cloud, called Temenos the “obvious choice” for its Google Cloud proof of concept.

“We initiated a complex process and tested several software vendors with proof of concept on Google Cloud,” Pascal Luigi, deputy chief executive at BforBank, said in a release. “Temenos was just the obvious choice, having invested relentlessly during the past years to deliver the most open and secure cloud banking platform for composing and deploying banking services at scale.”
BforBank offers digital solutions for retail banking, mortgages, life insurance and wealth management, and will use the Temenos expansion to scale news services with efficiency and lower costs.
“The banking industry is increasingly seeing that cloud technology is not just a driver of efficiency, but an enabler of change,” Zac Maufe, Google Cloud head of financial services, said in the release. “Through our partnership with Temenos, we look forward to powering Bforbank’s digital transformation.”
Corserv powers credit cards for community bank
Alternative card provider Corserv is powering personal and business credit cards for Plains Commerce Bank, the company announced Tuesday.
The $1 billion Hoven, S.D.-based bank tapped Corserv’s Account Issuer Program to facilitate card solutions for customers while removing the cost, staff and infrastructure required for in-house management, Chris Wasmund, chief operations officer at the bank, said in the announcement.
“We wanted to make the credit decisions for our relationship customers and keep the credit card loans and associated interchange and interest with Plains Commerce Bank in the local community,” Wasmund said. Corserv provides the service “without the internal cost, staff and infrastructure that make operating our own card program cost prohibitive,” he added.
Corserv hosts programs for community banks and fintechs to issue credit cards to customers through open APIs, offering virtual card support for businesses, automated credit decisioning and servicing portals. The company’s other bank partners include $36.5 billion Nashville-based Pinnacle Financial Partners and $2 billion Roseville, Calif.-based Five Star Bank.
